Excellent AI Overview of AI terms for leaders
This book does an excellent job of reviewing important AI terms from alphabetically A to Z. Regardless of your AI background, there are probably some terms that you have heard of, but either have no clue about them or your knowledge of a particular term is uncertain. As a leader, you must know the uses of potential innovations first before applying them. This book allows you to do just that. Each and every term is defined and explained, and then an example is provided. Although some examples may be a bit dated, this is to be expected in a field that is advancing as rapidly as AI. The book serves as a great reference and starting point for leaders trying to navigate how their organization can best capitalize on AI’s benefits.

“51 Essential AI Terms Explained for Leaders” by Marco Ryan was an invaluable source of guidance and clarification when I initially felt lost navigating AI jargon. Before I read this book, I found myself nodding in meetings, pretending I understood AI concepts being discussed while hiding my confusion for fear that asking for clarification would undermine my competence. This book helps me tackle complex topics with clarity and contextual examples, equipping me to engage confidently in conversations about AI’s impact, ethics, and regulation. As part of the “Leadership Impact Series,” this book equips leaders with the knowledge needed to responsibly implement AI without compromising ethical standards or societal values. As brief as it may seem, it’s actually a concise, no-frills collection of key terms and concepts you need in order to get a grip on AI. It’s not intended to be read like a novel (so no general guide to AI which you can already find in abundance), but to be used as a compendium. Clearly aimed at non-tech people, it’s a great source of information to better understand AI terminology, and to refresh your memory on terms once in a while. I highly recommend it not just for “leaders”, but for anyone interested in or confronted with AI – and given AI’s penetration of each and every part of business and everyday life, it shouldn’t be missing in your (digital) bookshelf.
