A vivid encapsulation of life in India in the days of the Empire. High days and holidays in an exotic setting with the every day life of the ordinary native Indian sympathetically portrayed. Short stories of the past as relevant now as when they were written.
Fix –
I have never really read Kipling. This is a great introduction to his writing and to India at a very interesting time.Has made me want to read more of his works and his life story, perhaps.

Kipling is as relevant today as when he was writing. Observations of human nature and behavior are spot on. All thinking people should have him on their book shelf (or Kindle!)
