Historical AND moving emotional story.
As a child of an Italian war bride and a US soldier, this story rings true from the historical perspective. I could identify with all of the main characters and the overall setting. My mother endured so much as a young woman growing up in occupied Italy where the world was turned upside down, and this story begins with similar horror. However it ends with similar joy because my mother came to America and had a wonderful life. I appreciate the hard work and diligence in research as well as the masterful writing.Thank you for this wonderful story.

Well Written!
This is the first work I have read by this author. It was well written! A very interesting story. And, unlike so many novels these days, it did not have lots of bad language, nor graphic violence and sex! Refreshing! Will definitely check out her other novels.

Jolly good read
Fascinating take on World War II. Hitler and Nazis were roaming through Europe. Those of Jewish ancestry were in terrible danger. Sophie and Hanna’s parents were killed. . They needed to escape Austria. Hanna was young and sent to America to live with a new family. Sophie was a librarian and offered a chance to escape to England if she worked as a British spy while employed at the Royal Library. It was a time of intrigue and distrust. Decades later the truth was disclosed about two sisters who were separated but always loved on another.

Great read about the Royal family during WWII
This is a sad tale about WWII with a reminder how awful the Hilter regime was to Jews and how they stormed through Europe. It centers on the impact to two sisters and weaves in a current day tale. It is sad, joyful and about love. I could not put it down, and really loved the ending.

interesting book
This historical novel was interesting as it presented an insight to the happenings within the royal family during the war. There is an interesting plot woven around the history.

Intriguing tale when Hitler was conquering countries all over Europe leading into WWII.
Kong’s, Queens and Princesses, along with “Royal Librarian.” Not about the horrors of concentration camps.. It is about two sisters surviving the war and how their lives turned out after the escaped from their country to live in separate countries.. Very well written, exciting story two sisters.

Wonderful story!!!
I really enjoyed this book. Some parts are difficult to read, we in this age can only imagine what it was like to be Jewish during Hitlers insane reign. I admired how she wrote the characters whether fictional or not. I love historical fiction. Thank you for a great read!

A different side to the usual “Betchley” stories. Very enjoyable, well researched.

I loved this book! The story of Sophie and Hanna, both trying to flee from Austria as war broke out, and what became of them both subsequently, is both exciting and nail-biting as I had to wait to discover what became of them both after the war. All the information about Windsor castle is fascinating, and it was great to have the story brought up to date with mentions of Covid and the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The characters felt extremely real, so I felt for them all when things were going badly and rejoiced with them when they went well. I can recommend this book to anyone who is interested in WW2, and especially what went on with the royals at that time, which was increasingly worrying to everyone. Excellent story, very well-told!

I read a lot of WW11 fiction and this was a different approach.Based on a real person, it was almost impossible to believe that she could end up as a royal librarian considering how she got there. It’s well written and a very good story.

The story moves from pre war Austria to modern Windsor with an interesting plot, moving between the two worlds where the links unfold throughout. I like the authors writing style and the authenticity of the settings. Recommend as a good read

I very much enjoyed this book. I felt that I really got to know the main characters well, and the story flows clearly, even though it moves between time periods. There were perhaps some aspects of the story that were superfluous, with some predictable elements, but they all added to my overall engagement with the characters. Equally there were surprises as the story unfolded, and the historical context and details were really interesting. Overall a very good read. I shall be looking to read more from this author.
