A Daughter’s Journey of Bravery and Compassion
I have updated my review after reading some of the negativity I have read posted about this work. It seems that many don’t realize that this is a YA novella written by and from the perspective of a 15 year old girl and is a delight for teens who read this genre. Adult reviewers can be cruel; whether from envy or a simple negative outlook on life that, thankfully, many of our young have not yet acquired.Teen author Myra Lee Glass, in her debut novel, has set the bar high in this exceptional work of historical fiction. Written from the perspective and in the voice of a fifteen year old girl from South Carolina, Myra’s eloquent prose and suspenseful plot will captivate any reader, young and old alike. Her heroine, Estelle Banks, bravely seeks to find and save her ailing mother, traveling from the small town of Beaufort to the big city of Boston in 1938. With plot twists and turns enlivened by enchanting descriptions and emotions, as only a teen can write them, you will love this work. Well done Myra Lee Glass and we look forward to your next novel!

good plot
Good plot keeps your attention but abrupt ending very unsatisfying. Additionally the writing was very amateurish in some places, especially at beginning when introducing facts.

This was a interesting book
This book had many twists and turns. The characters had many different types of people. It was nice to see the kindness shown to help the daughter find her mother. I enjoyed this book from start to finish.

Good cover, interesting premise, read like a school paper
Interesting plot but very undeveloped characters and settings. I would be very disappointed if I had bought this book. Realize this is a young author.

Very short story
Only 125-page book. Very amateur writing.

Wow
To think a young author wrote this! An amazing storing of post partum depression in an era that did not know how to treat this illness humanely. This a very complex subject that is so well versed in this book! A must read!

Abrupt ending
The storyline was interesting but the abrupt ending left so much unsaid. Some unrealistic situations could have been made more believable.
