Inspiring Book About a Woman Scientist
This is an excellent book about a woman scientist/mathematician that lived in a time that upper class women were only considered useful at home. This true story is interesting for young girls looking for the heroines of the early days of scientific exploration.

I thought I knew about this lady, but I learned so much more from reading this fascinating book. And the illustrations are the best part – Jessie Hartland’s sly humor shines through the heavy petticoats and mathematical concepts.

great for children
This book is delightful and suitable for children. It could contain a little more information about her which is why I give it 4 stars.

The American Dream
you need this book. I want to read it every week to my kids (both my boys and girl.) It’s a great American hero and inventor story that inspires us all.

So many interesting details about this amazing female scientist
Fascinating book- and inspiring too. So many interesting details about this amazing female scientist. My daughter especially loves that she grew up without a dad too 🙂

Ok, but I like ADA’S IDEAS better for a picture book bio of Lovelace
A picture book biography of Ada Lovelace, from childhood to her major accomplishments with advanced mathematical writing as an adult that is now considered to be the first computer program.Ada Lovelace is a fascinating woman, and I really like that there are books coming out about her but I’m not sure we needed two picture book biographies in the same year. (It’s not even the anniversary of her birth or death, so I’m not sure why the sudden tidal wave.) I think I would have found this more fascinating if it weren’t the 2nd Ada Lovelace picture book I’d read this year. I liked Ada’s Ideas: The Story of Ada Lovelace, the World’s First Computer Programmer a bit better, maybe because I read it first but definitely because I liked the art style in it better than this. Stanley/Hartland’s book is by no means bad, it just has tough competition. Also, I found the clothing on the men in this odd. The women’s styles seemed authentic for the time, but the men all appeared too modern. I will say this for the art, Hartland added some subtle touches of humor I appreciated (especially when illustrating what people talked about at parties). Reading both Ada Lovelace picture books side by side will provide an interesting compare/contrast activity in the subtle differences in voice and facts included.

This is my favorite: )
I named my daughter after Ada Lovelace. I own several children’s books about her. This is my favorite 🙂

Excellent for young girls!
Great book for young girls. Very interesting and even includes a timeline in the back of the book.

Very poorly documented and printed in mico fine print, such that you need a magnifier to read it. As well the documentation is sadly lacking in instructions as to its use, eg the 1st and 3rd bottoms are nowhere labeled as to their function. The on-line description does not indicate where it is strictly for bromine or chlorine use or both. Sometimes does not read the strip. I would not recommend this product.

Currently there are a lot of books emerging about outstanding women and Ada Lovelace is clearly one of them. The book is nicely illustrated, hence quite difficult for a 7 year old girl.

It is a lovely story for both boys and girls. My children love it.
