    Good
All in all a good book.I had a bit of a hard time keeping up with the people and the surrounding, but a good book.

Fun and Silly, but also Suspenseful and Edge-of-Your-Seat Worthy
Genuinely a silly, fun Y/A thriller novel that is not too deep, but is very compelling. Kept me on my toes the entire read. There are some moments in the book where they get strangely meta – they make a reference to Scream (1996) and I think, in some ways, it’s quite similar, hence why I loved it. Absolutely adored the characters, and the main character being bisexual really was interesting and made me feel super happy as someone who is bi myself! Lex is an absolute badass, and she can be a bit of an ass at times, but I love her character. I love the ghost legend to serial killer kind of thing going on a lot. I’d honestly love for some film industry to pick up a mini series on this. I feel like it could really shine given a little visualization. The only qualm I have is that the writing is simple, almost too simple at times, but that’s my personal preference. I could’ve dealt with a little more description, but I’m not mad about it and it doesn’t take much away from the story. Overall, if you’re looking for something silly, fun, but also suspenseful and shocking – again, with a bit of a Scream type feel to some of it – then I totally recommend.

    Great read
My son got me this for Christmas. Spooky thrillers aren’t my usual go to but I loved this book! I read it in 2 sittings. Page turner leaving you having to know more. So much more that I’ve already looked into purchasing more of her books!

Suited more for the younger side of YA
Come Out, Come Out, Whatever You Are by Kathryn Foxfield is about a reality TV show called, It’s Behind You! Where contestants have to stay all through the night at a spooky location, the Umber Gorge caves, which the Puckered Maiden haunts. Whoever makes it through has a chance to win 10k in prize money. The story introduces you to the main character, Lex, and the other contestants participating in the show. Jackie is the producer, and there are a few chapter headings with her doing interviews with them. Each contestant has a significant meaning in partaking in the show as to why Jackie selected them, but no one knows why until the end of the story. Some of the wording felt a little juvenile. EX: “I have eaten far too much beige food, but I can’t stop.”, “We scatter like skittles.” But at other times, it simply worked. Lex would give some side characters random names, such as “McOldFace,” and I thought it was a brilliant way to keep up with people in the book without overly complicating it with so many names.Overall this was a YA horror/suspense novel that stuck to the YA side of things. I felt myself forgetting that it was young adult, and unfortunately, it left me feeling underwhelmed because the story’s premise could have been terrifying. I was anticipating the climax to leave me shaking in my boots when I was ready to put the book down realistically. A few scenes lacked the emotional depth I imagine a person would feel when experiencing acts of death and getting locked in a cave without the possibility of escaping. The scare factor could have been explored there, but it didn’t seem to faze the characters and left me unconnected with them. If I were to recommend it, I would suggest it be read by a younger audience who wants to explore the horror genre without fear of it keeping them up at night.Thank you, NetGalley and Sourcebooks Fire, for providing an eARC of Come Out, Come Out, Whatever You Are. This review is being left voluntarily, and all opinions are my own.

I pre-ordered this thinking it was a new release, but unfortunately it wasn’t and it is, identical to a previous book ‘It’s Behind You’ renames. This book has new artwork and a new title, but the contents are the same.
