    Danger, Romance & Dragons!
I always like to turn to fantasy and adventure novels when I need a break from stress in the real world, and with the way things have been going lately, this book was just what I needed! It has everything from science to romance to dragons, and the plot line is written in such a believable way that as a reader you’re completely immersed and captivated from the very beginning to the very last page. Once I started reading, I didn’t want this book to end.One of my favorite aspects of this book was how it started off in the “real world”, complete with science and modern technology — I felt like this added a level of relatability to the character and the plot line, since Jon is just a regular guy. From there, the fantasy world where Jon ends up is so vivid and thoroughly described that it was easy to feel like I was actually there, experiencing the adventure alongside the characters. As the story progressed, I was definitely invested in several of the characters and I absolutely couldn’t wait to see what would happen next, and despite being a long book the pages just flew by.All in all, this book had everything I could ask for in a fantasy/adventure book — danger, romance, fantastical creatures, a quest, magic, great characters and vivid writing — and by the end of the book I was absolutely ready to take off on an adventure myself. I can’t wait to read more from David Scidmore!

    A promising start to a brand-new portal-fantasy series
When I first opened this book, I was disappointed to learn that it was not finished! It is merely the first in a – hopefully long-running – series that has yet to be put to print! This daunted me at first, as I had hoped to get a complete story without worrying about when, or whether, the next entry in a saga was about to release. However, this marvelous and romantic tale, featuring dragons, magic, undead, and all sorts of exciting fantasy fundamentals, as well as strong female characters that feel realistic and human without having to put down the males or puff up the females, satisfied excellently. Like Star Wars back in 1977, it completes a proper hero’s journey while leaving much open for future installments, and I eagerly anticipate future releases – I merely hold back a star because I don’t know how it ends, and I want to!

    Great book!
Dellia by David Scidmore is a romantic fantasy. It is the first of a set of books. It was unexpectedly good! I read a lot of these books to help passed the time away from the 2020 plague rats floating around. Some of them are ok books, some of them are great books, most of them are in middle. This one was one of the best books I have read in a minute. It is a solid book. The plot was enjoyable. The characters were amazingly well fleshed out and developed. So many books like this exist but I felt like this was a unique experience. It was a unique take on the whole romantic fantasy thing that as a guy I may not normally enjoy these types of books, I found this one to be entertaining enough I could not stop reading it. It was well written and flowed well. It also had the hallmarks of good editing. The pace of the book was smooth. It was easy to start and hard to put down once you were in the story. Overall, it was an excellent work of fiction. Well deserving of 5 stars and a bargain to boot!

I loved this! an Epic fantasy adventure / romance with plenty of twists to keep you guessing, and although written recently in 2019 (it starts out in present time in our world), this reads more like a classic Fantasy instead, which I thought was so refreshing! no F-bombs or OTT hot scenes to fill out the pages instead of plot, this was all good writing, excellent world building, interesting characters, action, adventure, mystery, humor – a bit of everything without anything unnecessary to the story, it’s really well balanced. John and Megan are work colleagues and friends who get transported to a different world by accident when he opens a portal in his lab. Having just been turned down by Megan, and then meeting Dellia early on, I was thinking/dreading that this was going to be centered on one of my least favourite tropes, a love triangle involving Jon and these two ladies, so I was again pleasantly surprised at how the story played out – but I’m not going to tell any spoilers!!. Jon and Dellia are the main characters, with Garris, Kayleen, Sirra and others having important roles from near the beginning, and there are plenty of other characters (all of them interesting) that you get to meet as the story goes on. Megan, who initially arrives in the new world with Jon is the focus of book 2 although of course she is in this book as well. It might be a big book for the first in a series at over 600 pages but I was enjoying the story so much that to me it didn’t feel long at all. The ending was everything I wanted it to be and more too. I think David did an amazing job with this book, and for it to be his debut book makes it even more impressive in my opinion. I just wish I’d found it sooner and I’m really looking forward to the second book – can’t wait to see what happens next!
