Stunning Illustrations
I don’t remember how I heard about this book, but so glad I did. Absolutely stunning illustrations. The story is beautiful, too, but the illustrations keep me coming back to this book overhand over. My grandson likes it, but I LOVE it.

Beautiful
Beautiful illustrations, like peeking into a dollhouse. A sweet read-aloud.

Unique story and perspective that includes generations of family life in one, old farmhouse.
Purchased for my sweet nieces, this story is wonderful in how one farm house occupies many children and generations of families over time. I love the seeming simplicity of illustration used and the author’s special notes concerning her own love of restoration and the personality of old farm homes. Illustrated by Sophie Blackall (a 2-time Caldecott medalist), I find the illustrations so interesting – done with mixed media and collage. I believe these illustrations, combined with the story, will make Reading Time extra fun for my neices and nephew (all under five). Loving children’s books myself (in my 60s), I kept one for my own collection. Highly recommend!

Darling book with thoughtful details
An absolutely beautiful book sure to make you reminisce on the importance of family and the idea of home! The author draws on the true story of an abandoned home she found and the stories she imagined and later researched happening there. I especially love that she used textiles in the book from the house itself. 10/10!

A Treasure
This book is a treasure. So thrilled to have it in my school library. Will be ordering a copy for my home as well. This book will be a classic children’s favorite! The illustrations are engaging and inviting and the story is timeless.

Beautiful but binding is falling apart
Love the creativity, time and imagination that went into writing this story. Unfortunately the binding is falling apart just a few months later, not sure if there’s a way to get a replacement?

Everything about this book is gorgeous, from the lyrical poetry telling the story of a home full of children and love, to the artwork with the found images from the real farmhouse worked in. This book makes me think of the home my children are growing up in– messy, busy, and full of love– and wonder what will become of these walls once we’ve all moved on one day…
