Great story and beginning of a new series
I loved this curvy, insecure h and how she let God help her. I found the H to be charming (in the best way) and refreshingly honest with himself and others. This story can be read as a stand-alone or as the beginning of a new series. I’m grateful for that, as my KU has expired and I’m going to be buying books one at a time. 🙂 I am also grateful for the KU access that Liz Isaacson has chosen to offer. The synopsis and other reviews will tell you what this book is about. My reviews tend to tell you how it made me feel. I felt a lot of joy and gratitude while reading this. Although I’m underweight, I could completely relate to the h and her poor self image. Sometimes years of conditioning can be difficult to overcome. Reconciliation with estranged family can be challenging for those same reasons and the H’s story shows that. Yet we know all things are possible with the Creator, through His son. The H&h definitely live that in this book.5 happy little stars-ncv

Beautiful story of second chances
This is a sweet, clean cowboy romance and so much more. Scarlett and Hudson hit it off right from the start when they met. He soon found himself in love but she was very afraid even though she knew in her heart that she loved him too. Her lack of self esteem almost ruined their relationship. This is a great book. I recommend it.

She has written better stories I think
I wanted to like this book- I have read others by the author that I did like, but the whole story here was just ok at best, imo. It also could use some editing and proofreading, but at least this author does know mares are female and guided with reins, not reigned. I liked Hudon and Carson, not so much Adele and Scarlett. Sure, at their ages, they all have issues to deal with, but the women were a bit of a pain, although, at least Scarlett did own up and apologize when being a snippy witch, so give her that. Why on earth would Hudson’s mom take the side of her son’s cheating wife? And what happened to snap her out of it-? That was just glossed over & really, nearly his whole family treats him badly since he was 15 because he preferred to be a mechanic to ranching? There were others in the family to do it, who apparently liked to, at least the brat brother Judd seems to have. Not sure after all that I would care much about going back and working at mucking out stalls for a month while they continue to act as they have- I am pretty sure that with a camper on my truck I could find some place else to be-but then, of course, Scarlett would not have known where he was, right? Still, putting up with it for a month? Nope, I’d have long since figured I gave it a shot & nothing has changed-so see ya later. Maybe.

Good
Satisfying story, good characters, imaginative setting. Not sure goat yoga will ever be for me, but that was amusing too.

Second chance at love
Scarlett and Hudson had both been married and divorced. They were not looking for romance as their first marriages ended badly.Scarlett was managing Last Chance Ranch and it was a lot of work. Along came Hudson looking for a job. Little did they both know that they found more than work, but each other.Liz Isaacson writes sweet and clean romantic stories.

Good, clean Christian romance
Scarlett and Hudson have each been hurt by their past spouses, so each struggles to get past their fear of becoming close to another person. They also are working to save her Grampa’s farm. Interesting characters, although Adele is a confusing woman. Well-written, entertaining, Christian story which shows how Scarlett and Hudson struggle and sometimes fail, but don’t stop turning to God for help. Lots of animals and Adele starts holding goat yoga classes with baby goats.

The Last Chance Ranch is an easy read, revolving around two divorcees overcoming their fears to give love a second chance.Scarlett has just inherited a vast ranch which is in a state of near disrepair. She’s going to need to hire a whole lot of people to help her ranch get back into shape and become eligible for funding that’s available to rescue farms. That’s how she ends up hiring a whole lot of people, including one Hudson.Hudson is 40 plus and divorced, just like Scarlett. Both have seen an undeniable chemistry developing between them from the first instant. So, love is in the air, but Scarlett will need to overcome her insecurities first. To help, there’s her best friend Adele who is also living on the ranch, and all sorts of animals. It’s a pretty simple plot and the angst is also low. More characters have been included so that their storylines and romances can be explored for the rest of the series.I am giving this story 4 stars because it was well-written, with only a few and minor copyediting errors. I wished for a few things though. First, I wish Hudson’s dog was named something different, not an anagram of Hudson’s own name. It made it difficult for me to follow the scenes initially where both the dog and his human were present.Secondly, I wish Hudson’s own conflict with his family was elaborated upon. The number of times he was shown brooding upon it, one thought it had to be pretty serious. But the lame way in which it got resolved made it look like either Hudson had blown it all out of proportion, or the author felt lazy working out his side of the story.Thirdly, the God and Christian angle was just there for the sake of it. I would have liked a deeper connect to be shown. Also, when Scarlett’s mother appears to be casual about her father’s declining health, there’s a hint that there’s a story behind it. But that’s never addressed. Why introduce these side threads if they aren’t necessary or won’t be given closure?Anyway, it was a good read by itself, but I won’t be reading any more in this series as I have gone through the blurbs of the remaining 5 and they all look formulaic and similar. If you have read one, you have read all. Also, this series is not on Kindle Unlimited, so I would have to purchase them for 500 each, definitely not worth it.

I enjoyed this second chances romance that explored the lives of two people divorced and considering what life may have in store for them. The country lifestyle is always enjoyable to read about, too.

When Scarlet left Los Angeles to help her grandfather on Second Chance Ranch, she had no idea what awaited her. To make the ranch feasible, a lot of repairs and man power were needed. Beside that, she needed the partnership of Forever Friends. Unbelievably, a dog escaped, and a stranger by the name of Hudson returned the dog to the ranch. He would prove to be a God-send to the ranch. Sit back and relax as you read this excellent story of two people who are dealing with their own divorce. Scarlett is dealing with her own sense of self-worth. A struggle is raging in her heart. Can they save the ranch? What does the future hold for them? I highly recommend this clean novel. It’s worth reading.
