    Adorable!
Got this for big brother to read to baby sister and they both love it. Enough text and info to keep brother interested and high contrast, colorful pictures to entertain baby. The art is beautiful and I will be buying the rest of the set.

C is for Cookie and for Cute
A gift for my two year-old God-niece who is so adorable when she says “Cookie, I like it”.Slim and sturdy boardbook with bright colors and cute and simple illustrative designs that pop. The cookies covered range from basic to “fancy”. Eight cookies and nine full-page rhymes (last page is about all the cookies together). The rhymes are fine if not exactly inspired, but do present a broad vocabulary that will let you play with word sounds and vocal inflections and pacing (you could even give each cookie it’s own “voice”). Most of the words and their meanings will be lost at this stage but that’s okay – building a foundation and recognition through repetition is what it’s all about. The most effective books for this age are ones that can be used in multiple ways – reading for storytime, of course, but also to introduce new words, identify shapes, colours, numbers, explore concepts such as “Where do you find this? How do you use this?”, begin ranking favourites and least favs, etc. This little book will give you many of these options. However – I don’t feel this is an effective bedtime book; it’s more of an afternoon playtime experience, as reading and talking about cookies is going to make somebody want cookies (i.e. it’s an “engager”, not a “relaxer”). Better have some choco-chips standing by, or you may be inciting a playpen riot!
