   Excellent devotional for pre-teen boys
   As a mom of three grown sons, this book of Christian devotionals would have been a great resource in our home. While it may have been difficult to get them to read them on their own and do the reflection questions (just being honest — boys will be boys), I would have welcomed this resource as an opportunity to spend a few minutes reading it with them and hope that it would spark a discussion — maybe help them feel more comfortable bringing up a problem they are facing or a joy they want to celebrate. The author begins each devotional with an opening story or question to grab the reader’s attention, then explains the scripture passage tied to the story/question. Each devotional ends with relevant questions and a short prayer. It’s evident that the author is a father himself because he clearly knows how to speak to 9–12 year-old boys so they don’t feel looked down upon, but rather valued for the blessing they are.

   This is an excellent resource that offers lots of options for discussion
   As a long time catechist, I am always looking for materials to help engage my students, especially the boys. I think this is an excellent resource that offers lots of options for discussion. Even though it is marketed towards boys, I think this would be a useful tool for any child to help them grow during their faith journey. I especially love the format, beginning with a verse/question a week. Shane then thoughtfully, and at their level, describes the meaning of the verse and relates it to their lives. He goes on to include some questions for thought and then closes with a prayer. I think this would be an excellent addition to any child’s library, but especially useful in a faith formation curriculum.

   Great devotional!!
   I love this devotional!! It’s perfect for my 12 year old, a little advanced for my 9 year old but he benefits from it as well. We read it together and it produces some great conversations.

   Great for my 11 year old
   This has been a great book for both of us to go through at night.Love the thoughtful questions that it asks. Gives us a chance to talk about what we just read and gives me more insight into my son.

   Great guidance to spiritual maturity!
   Geared to the mindset of young boys past childhood and yet not quite to the teen years, Shane’s devotional book gives guidance to the emotional, physical and spiritual questions boys this age are or soon will be experiencing.Bible verses to ponder with questions to give a springboard to dig a bit deeper in thought and a short example of prayer will help to develop good habits to grow and mature even as Jesus did as written in Luke 2:52 “And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.”I highly recommend this book for developing young boys into the young men we need!

   Key Bible passages for life . . . and more
   In my past role as Christian middle school and high school teacher, I searched for ways to encourage and assist boys on their journey to becoming Christian men. I would have loved to have been able to provide this resource — this devotion book — for them! With its use of key passages, great insights, and opportunities for discussion and contemplation, this regular time in the Word will help young men consider God’s will for their lives along with ways they can serve God and others as they move forward into adulthood.
