   That is one terrifying cupid!!!!!
   I finally read it, and I’m happy to say I never cried.I put off reading this book for so long because I was scared. It looks so emotional and devastating.However, the scenes of the main couple first capture were scary and very funny. I don’t know why? I think the banter and hatred they have for each other made it less emotional for me. I was just confused about why they hated each other so much. Even after the kidnapping, they still consistent banter.One of the things I hate when someone is sexually assaulted is the after-effects, when no one cares that irks me and piss me off so much.Dean, the Mmc is the only one who really cared about her well-being after. This made him so believeable and understanding even when he annoyed me.Sister redeemed herself in the epilogue. She was the biggest hypocrite.This was well written and shows a lot of growth in therapy and mental care. A lot of dark romances do not show this, and I think this one makes the trauma more believable.

   Still Beating is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. It’s so unique in its perspective of a horrific, traumatic experience and the aftermath of surviving it. It was haunting in ways I’ve not yet experienced while reading a book. I was riveted from the beginning to the end. I laughed but mostly cried. They were tears of sorrow and happiness. Jennifer Hartmann writes in such a way that you feel the emotions along with the characters. She breathes life into everything about this story with her vivid, heartfelt descriptions. Tragic, broken, heroic, powerful, passionate… Simply Beautiful!

   Absolutely captivating
   Wow!! My first ever Jennifer Hartman book and it will certainly not be my last. This book was absolutely captivating and breathtaking! Dean and Cora’s story was unlike anything I’ve read and I was undeniably HOOKED.Emotional, angst-driven, well written, and truly a masterpiece. Top read of 2024 for me.Definitely check out the trigger warnings if you are sensitive to certain subjects.

   Heartbreakingly beautiful
   A heartbreaking story that warmed my heart and kept me reading until I finished, almost no breaks. Thank you Jennifer Hartmann for such a beautiful love story, that was so well written, I almost felt it was real.I am definitely going to be reading more of your works!

   This was a quick read for me, but it was also an emotional one!! This book is filled with not only trauma but also with hope and love! I read some reviews that said it was sometimes stagnant and that the healing took too long, but I thought every word had a purpose. Healing does not happen overnight, so the author took us through their journey.The whole book was a roller coaster of ups and downs. I found myself smiling at the banter between the main characters but also crying along with their pain.This is one of the best books I’ve read this year
