A Dream Life on an Island!
The Beach House is a great read anywhere! Once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down. A relatively quick read and characters that just pulled me in!

    Good Summer Beach book
I am currently reading book 6 of the 8-book series. The Beach House was the first book, and it’s clearly marked 1st book of a series. So of course I knew there was more than one… (But we will get into that in a minute). The Beach house is light, summer reading. Easy to follow. I love books that are set at beaches, or rivers, etc. I’m a shore person myself, living in ‘beach towns’ nearly all my life, although not in the South. The characters are ok, not exactly complex, not exactly mysterious. There are no big surprises or twists.Like I said, a perfect beach blanket book- easily read, easy to pick up again if you get sidetracked with something else.My issue: Each of these books is very short. The average length of any good novel I’ve read (and I’ve read Hundreds!) is probably about 350-400 pages. Average. Some a little bit shorter, but many longer than that. These books are Short! I noticed a couple of them weren’t even 200 pages! The entire book can be read in 90 minutes. Seriously?I can’t help but feel taken for a ride that I have to spend $4 per book which is a total of $32 when these 8 books could have EASILY been three 450 page books and cost about $12. I feel kind of ripped off.Even more annoying is the blatant manipulation of ending each book during or *immediately* after the culmination of a big event or problem getting solved. And I mean immediately. The next book literally starts as the characters are walking home or still at the party or event or whatever happened in the last paragraph of the previous book. No weeks have passed, no years, it just picks up exactly in the moment it left off. It seems very manipulative and contrived just to split this story into another book, and then another, and then another… I’ve never seen that before in a series.I hope this doesn’t become a trend with authors to grab as much money as possible for the contents of what should be one or two books telling the same repetitive stories about the same characters. I also noticed a pattern in each book. It all begins with one of the characters being “afraid” of what others will think, so they don’t ask or talk about something. The other person is also afraid to know what the other thinks, so he also avoids talking about things and it’s a long, Looooooong series of mis-understanding each others actions and motives, when all they had to do was ASK for cripesakes! These are people in their early and mid forties… seriously, they don’t know how to communicate with other adults? This is where a third person needs to come into the picture and tell the two lovebirds or siblings, or mother and daughter what to say, how to ask, and find out what the other one really thinks and let them know… It’s all so… high school. But I’m now on book 6, so although I have complaints, it’s not THAT bad! Good Beach book.

I really enjoyed this first in a huge series! Very clean romance. Lots of cute drama going on. Nothing traumatic! It was like a breathe of fresh air!

    Heartwarming
This is a cute, cozy story about a woman and some very unexpected life changes. After 21 years of marriage, Julie’s husband has decided to leave her for another woman, and Julie picks up the pieces and moves to an island. I found this to be so realistic, one actually forgets they are reading a story. I can’t wait to read book 2 to find out what is in store for Julie and Dawson. This was a book chosen for a read-along in my fb book group, and am so glad this was the one we chose.
