    Good writer
Wow! Talk about action packed! Its a long book so there’s a lot to talk about but essentially we have a human fighting for her safety in a vampire run world. The man who raised her is the vampire king; he taught her to fight so that she could keep herself safe. And so she does, she does it in a very long contest where there can be only one victor. All so she can become something more than human. Its through all of the trials that she finds out what it really means to be human as she has always felt cold like a vampire in every way just simply in a frail human body. She learns a lot through her ordeals like trust, family, friendship, and even love. Because of all this, we find a new era arising. That’s what we will see in the next book, and plenty of politics, I’m sure. There’s plenty of action here. Lots of fighting, death, and even some love making. Its been a while since I’ve read from this author and I’m glad I picked up this book.

If you are a fan of the Romantasy genre with a headstrong and fierce female main character who can show vulnerability, then I highly recommend The Serpent and the Wings of Night. If your biggest hesitation is the presence of vampires, don’t let that stop you. I’m not a fan of vampire books anymore (I used to be, but got tired) and I DEVOURED this book. What you get: Action, romantic tension, banter, violence, betrayal, friendship, self-discovery and a swoony main male character who knows how to appreciate a fierce woman… what a ride! I finished it last night and will be starting book 2 today. Although book 1 doesn’t end in a painful cliffhanger (thank you for those last few chapters at the end), it does end at a pivotal point in the main character’s life and you’ll want to know immediately what happens next.ABOUT THE SERIES: This is book 1 of a duet. There are multiple books in the world of “Crowns of Nyaxia” but Oraya’s story is told in 2 books. The other books in the series delve into the stories of other characters (from what I can tell of the descriptions of the other books in the series).GENRE, FLOW, WRITING: Yes, this is a story about vampires but it doesn’t read like Paranormal at all. It really reads like a Romantasy. It’s Hunger Games meets ACOTAR and keeps you on your toes from start to finish. The flow was perfect, world building is gradually incorporated throughout the story, and holy smokes, it is so action packed. Great quality writing with a perfect flow and characters that you can love, admire and respect. It hit all of my marks!TECHNICALITIES:- 1st person POV (FMC)- Past Tense- Book divided in 7 parts, all of which start with a chapter in her past, from childhood to her teenage years- SPICE LEVEL: There are 2 sex scenes in this book and they are descriptive on page. Satisfying for those of us who love spice in their romance novels but not overwhelmingly so that it takes over the story or feels gratuitous. Those who don’t like reading descriptive sex, can easily skip those 2 parts.RED FLAGS, WARNINGS, AUDIENCE: Violence, death, killing as a sport, war, language, gore, mutilation, descriptive sex on the page.MY 5-STAR CRITERIA: I rated this book 5 stars because I definitely have a hangover and will be purchasing the audiobook format and possibly grab a hard cover copy to put in my collection of favorite reads. I will be reading this series again and again for sure! I binge read the last half of the book in one day. I literally read from 48% to the end in one day because I couldn’t put it down.

The story starts off a little slow paced. A lot of world building and well formed basis from witch to present us a great tale. This is a first-person perspective story, and the author is sooooo efficient to lead us thru the many strong, deep and contradicting emotions of the lead. We can feel all that she felt as we are lead into a rollercoaster of events, unravelling all the entanglements of past and prospects of future while she watches all of her truths become undone.I must say I was expecting more of romance, but it is definitively a good exchange for all the richness of carachter building. And when the romance finally do unravell, it does not come short.

Wow! What a well written masterpiece! Ridiculously engaging, completely captivating. Everything you could ask for with a fierce, well developed protagonist, an mmc, you can’t help but fall for, action-packed sequences, delicious banter, and spice that is not only worth the wait but also does justice to important issues like recovering from sexual trauma. Seriously 10/10 or 100/100!!! I can’t even begin to describe what an amazing read this is! Well worth it in every sense there could be! Definitely going on my reread for the rest of time list!
