The realities of war and the impact on the lives of those who served…..
I had heard a lot of great things about this book, and once I was able to get it, dug right in. As a female veteran I am always interested in stories about the women who served before me. This book did not disappoint. While I did not serve in combat, I had heard many stories from people who did. I found this book to be well written and detailed. I felt the compassion and pain. My spouse is a veteran as well, and suffers with PTSD (although not to the degree that Frankie did). Having met many Vietnam veterans, I feel for them and how they felt forgotten for so many years, and, as a female veteran, how often, the VA health care system, doesn’t always acknowledge that women serve too. that’s getting better, but they still have a long way to go. The book can be heartbreaking, but also eye opening. Highly recommend.

Omg, Kristin Hannah is the best historical fiction author! This book had me hooked since the beginning and had me sobbing! It was heartbreaking and inspiring at the same time. I loved this book

I admit I’m not an emotional reader. It takes a lot me make me shed tears while reading, but the ending of this book was surprisinly emotional for me. I love reading historical novels, but I knew little about the Vietnam War and its outcomes to the soldiers and nurses who ventured in there in service. A really good book that like many other that I’ve been reading, show the forgotten role of women in wars that marked a whole generation.

Souffrance, résilience. Très beau témoignage romancé des séquelles que laisse la guerre.A lire. Je l’ai dévoré en quelques jours.
