    Detailed
Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for accepting my request to audibly read and review The Women of Rothschild.Author: Natalie LivingstoneNarrator: Francesca WatersPublished: 10/25/22Genre: Biographies & Memoirs — HistoryWell-documented and researched facts; while I didn’t fact check, I’ve read enough to know there was a passion involved in this book. The facts and the narration were both too dry to maintain my attention. There were bits and pieces, respectfully, of trivia tidbits that would pique my interest at that time. Sadly, nothing stands out now.I believe someone was excited when they saw the title. (Jacqueline Lee Bouvier Kennedy Onassis does it for me.) There is a market, and I would gift this to someone that asks, is a Rothschild enthusiast, or someone who I knew to be a smart reader.

#TheWomenOfRothschild #NetGalley #NatalieLivingstone #StMartinsPressThe name Rothschild is synonymous with wealth, power, and influence. Dubbed the “Jewish Royal Family” and the “First European Economic Community,” their history is well-documented in books and films and is the stuff of legend and even conspiracy theories. However, little is known about the strong and resilient women who supported this powerful dynasty.Unfortunately, as Naomi Shepherd, a scholar of Jewish history put it, “In all the historical literature produced since the end of the eighteenth century, women are a footnote to the story of Jewish survival.” But Natalie Livingstone’s book, “The Women of Rothschild,” aims to address this shortcoming.Starting with Gutle, the original matriarch of the family, who grew up in a cramped Frankfurt ghetto, provided her husband with capital through her dowry, managed the household, and played an integral role in the early years of the family and bank, Livingstone details the contributions of the Rothschild women. The book also describes the lives and achievements of Hannah, Henriette, Charlotte, Hannah Mayer, Louisa, Constance, Emma, Hannah, and Blanche.”The Women of Rothschild” is informative and well-illustrated, providing a comprehensive account of the significant roles played by the women of this powerful dynasty.
