Educational, easy read
I love all these books and buy them for my kiddos. They are big print , have pictures and best of all east to read. We learn so much every time. Great for book reports for the younger grades. I buy them if we are traveling and read them so the kids have a good historical foundation!

Perfect for a third grader!
My daughter is going to be Jane Goodall for the 3rd Grade Wax Museum, and we bought this book to help her along. This book is perfect in difficulty level for her and contains lots of useful information and pictures. My daughter was excited to read this book and said that it was easy for her to read and understand.

Great biography but contains a story about cannibalism of an infant chimp.
So we love the Who is/ Who was series and for the most part this is a great book. But towards the end is a story of a chimp who attacks another chimp, kidnaps her infant and “fed on it until every last bit was gone”. This reduced my 9yo daughter to tears she was so upset. I understand that the author’s intent was to show how Jane’s views on chimps being like humans but nicer was changed after researching them for years. I feel like that could have been accomplished without that particular story, especially since the intended audience is elementary students.I let my daughter give the star level rating. She deducted a star for that particular part of the story but said she enjoyed learning about Jane and the chimps.

Loved it
I didn’t have high expectations – the “Who Was…” series is huge, and sometimes the quality is mediocre when a publisher decides to crank out that many titles in a series. It was great, though! I have an unenthusiastic reader who had to be dragged inside to read a biography of 100+ pages and present the book report to his 4th grade class. With the exception of the time he glommed onto my collection of Hugleikr Dagsson books, this is the first time he’s been excited to turn the page and find out what happened next. He laughed. He asked lots of questions. He read a whole book without grumbling. The highlight of his week was sharing with his class that this badass scientist once got the snot beaten out of her by a chimp, got thrown off a cliff, got up, dusted herself off, and got back to work. Also, her dad fought Nazis. My boy’s a fan. After finishing, he was so interested in Dr. Goodall’s life that I even got him to read a good portion of her autobiography, My Life with the Chimpanzees. I almost feel like I could start saving money for college instead of bail for this kid.

Great for the classroom
I used this book for students to study a person in history to write a report on. This was for a 4th grade classroom. Each student read the novel on their own and filled out a novel study that I created for non-fiction books. Students were able to follow the book with ease and understand what they were reading. There were several pictures to aid in understanding. There is also a timeline that helps students understand the timeline of events as they read. Very great resource.

amazing
Who is Jane Goodall is the most amazing book a child could read when I read this book I was very shocked at how passion ate all of the new born chimpanzees I was also heart broken at how passion did not care for her child how can some one be so careless and let their child just die like that she did’nt even feed the child horrible but I would give this five stars I’m just going to say good job Roberta Edwards and I thank you for writing this book for children.

Difficult to rate as it is really a children’s book and and not a literary work. It is informative and fun. Read it to 12 yr old grand daughter and she listened and giggled at times.
