Good start for small business owners
This is a textbook chosen by my boss who has 40 years of experience in the accounting world. 10+ of being a successful business owner. Very clear resources within the textbook. Very easy to follow along.

Great for anyone who sucks at math, like me
I started an Etsy shop a few months ago with zero knowledge of accounting and bought this book in hopes of making sense of the basics. This is an easy read with LOTS of examples to really drive the points home. That being said, I did knock off just one star because it was a little too dry and clinical. It took me a while to finish it because I found the topic so boring. I think it would have been better if the book had built in worksheets or followed a single made-up business through all of the examples.

    Don’t get the Kindle version
Kindle Version!I struggled about whether to give this three stars or four. My suggestion to anyone wanting to get it for the Kindle: Don’t. Get a physical copy. There are a ton of notes missing from the Kindle version. Sometimes the charts and tables are way too small to be read on the Kindle. I believe this could be a great book, but the further you go into it, the more information is missing from the Kindle format.I believe the content in a physical book would be well worth it. The author uses visual, by example, and explanation learning as ways to teach and does a very good job of that, at least from what I can tell.

Packed with information and helpful tips
As someone who has recently considered starting a small business, I have found this book to be quite informative and helpful. Though I have already learned much of the structures as well as the financial ins and outs, this book has helped me to understand many of the fine details. The helpful hints and tips throughout the book are great as well as the visual aids such as charts and tables to see the actual accounting process. I also found the Valuing Your Business section and balance sheet to be helpful in the event of selling or liquidation of a business. This was something new to me and I was surprised at how easy this is to calculate. This book is great for anyone involved in a small business or for anyone wanting to learn more about how the financial side of a small business runs. I appreciate having this resource as it is packed with informative tips and easy to read.*I received this ebook in exchange for my honest review.

It will offer good information for you to assess the value of your business or give you a good idea of the value of a business you may consider owning. It’s a great aid in helping to better understand that owning a business is much different from running a business. Great for basic accounting info
Lots of basic information on accounting in layman’s terms; great for beginners. The intro discusses what accounting is, including the different business structures sole proprietorship, partnership, LLC, S Corp, etc., types of small businesses, and the difference between bookkeepers, accountants, controllers and CPA’s. Chapter 1 explains basic accounting terms (assets, liabilities, equity) with great tables/diagrams to show you what it all means if you’re a visual person. Chapter 2 is Business Set Up, Chapter 3 is Running a Business, Chapter 4 is Selling, and Chapter 5 is titled End of Cycle, which discusses insurance, payroll, income taxes, valuing your business etc. I think there is a lot of great information for beginners in this book. I have the digital copy and the text is a lot larger in this book than most books, and I like it! The book is very easy to read and follow. Note: I received this book for free in exchange for my review, however it did not influence my opinions or my review at all.

Basic book, if i can call it a book. It doesn’t seem like one. There is no such a pleasure nor an odor like a real book. I think its just a copy. I ve learned a basic accouting , nothingelse . For the price , it’s a waste of money.

I wanted a book which told me in simple terms how to set up, analyse and report on our small business accounts. This book does just that. While this book may have been written initially for the US, the principles and terms of accounting outlined really are so similar it doesn’t cause any problem. It has helped us to set up the double entry accounts and reports needed to file our tax returns, which is exactly what we needed.
